Google Acquires GrandCentral Communications
Google announced that it has acquired GrandCentral Communications a company that manages voice communications. The Purchase price is thought to have been in he vincinity of $50 Million.
The GrandCentral Communication technology allows its users to manage all their telephone numbers under one account managed from a pc.
The technology also allows users to:

have one central voice mailbox.

listen to your voicemails online or from any phone,

forward your voicemails to anybody,

add the caller to your address book,

block a caller as spam
-
listen in on voicemail messages from your phone while they are being recorded

switch a call from your cell phone to your desk phone
The service is currently in beta and only available to US residents on an invitation only basis.
A very smart buy on Google’s part, and a bold move into the telecoms industry.
