Google Launches Audio Ads

We knew it was coming and if anyone was going to revoltionise the way adverts are served on the radio … well… Google was.

According to a report by Borrell Associates, almost $7.5 billion was spent last year on local online advertising, a field that is growing at a rate of 31.5 percent yearly.

Google has been testing its Audio Ads platform for months now thanks to it purchase last year of dMarc Broadcasting, whose automated ad-purchasing system for radio stations became the foundation for Google’s Audio Ads platform.

Now, Google is finally ready to offer Audio Ads to all AdWords account holders in the United States, the service will be “rolled out” during the month of June.

In an effort to entice prospective radio advertisers, Google is offering a $400 credit voucher in Audio Ads credits as a promotion towards the first radio Ad campaign.

Will you be trying it? I know I will… Will let you know how it goes…. (yeah right!…a bit too rich for my blood!)
